Our History

Bereavement Assistance is a community service organisation founded in 1997 by Ted Worthington and Bernard Morey.

Ted was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours, 2011, for his work in the community, particularly with Bereavement Assistance.

We are privileged to have as our Patron Mr S.I. (Mick) Miller, A.O., L.V.O., Q.P.M., a former Chief Commissioner of Police in Victoria. In his retirement Mr Miller has been involved in community service and is actively involved in our work.

Ted is now semi-retired but his vision is carried on by a board of management and a team of eleven dedicated employees.

During 2014-2015 we are undertaking a corporate governance review under professional guidance.
